“The JAB Foundation was so generous to send my 13 year old son and I to NYC to celebrate his birthday together this past November.”

In March 2019, I was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer. I went through all the most aggressive treatments; Surgery, Chemo and Radiation. I was so ill and weak from the treatment that I was mostly in bed that year, and when I wasn't in bed I needed a wheelchair to get around.

Just when I was starting to feel better, COVID hit. The silver lining was that I started doing "Front Step Photos" of the families in my area, which seemed to bring everyones' spirits up. I love my job and was happy to be back to it.

In March 2021, after a questionable CT scan, I had a lung biopsy which showed progression to my lungs... I now have stage 4 cancer. I am currently on monthly injections to starve the cancer of the estrogen it feeds off of. I will be on some sort of treatment for the rest of my life.

I am thankfully currently able to live my life and do my job, and spend time with my family and friends- all of whom I love so very much.

I am so grateful for the JAB Foundation. I knew Julie as a photography client, and had taken her family's photos a few times. Julie was a remarkable woman, who always put others first, and always had a big smile on her face. I wasn't even aware she was fighting this monster that Cancer is, until I myself was diagnosed, and she reached out to me.

The JAB foundation was so generous to send my 13 year old son and I to NYC to celebrate his birthday together this past November. We had such a blast- he is still talking about it! We stayed at a lovely hotel, saw a Broadway show, did a 9/11 Tour, went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, took a carriage ride through Central Park, and ate a lot of really yummy food! Most importantly, we got to spend some much needed quality time together, which was long overdue and so incredibly wonderful.
